WordSection1 {}#yiv0637511976 Hi Carmel and all,One of the goals in my acou=
stic monitoring is to document the importance of a diversity of stop-over a=
reas in Nova Scotia. The inland areas of Nova Scotia are probably under-bir=
ded, but my recordings reveal high counts and a rich diversity of species i=
n inland regions. The comparison I=E2=80=99m doing this year between acoust=
ic counts in Carleton and radar data in Caribou, Maine seem to provide evid=
ence that birds are flying in a broad front that extends from Northern New =
Brunswick/Maine to Southern Nova Scotia. But as you well stated, there are =
likely micro-corridors within the matrix of this broad front. Unfortunately=
, I have no information on Blue-headed Vireos since vireos appear not to ha=
ve flight calls when migrating. I do have an acoustic monitoring station in=
Lunenburg County. The data there might be interesting to compare with your=
stop-over patch. I have not analyzed the data for this fall yet but the in=
formation for last year is available at: http://www.johnfkearney.com/South_=

=C2=A0Hi John,=C2=A0Interesting to see the patterns of the two years compar=
ed, I see the spike you are talking about compared to last year. I discover=
ed an area on my property that is a popular migrant stopover, so I'm curiou=
s to see what it looks like this year. Last year it was busiest between Sep=
tember 17 and 27, with the most migrant warblers in numbers and species, wh=
ich corresponds with your peak of nocturnal migration last year, interestin=
gly enough. I am inland from Bridgewater, in Lunenburg County, it's not lik=
e on the coast for example, but I am still surprised at the variety I get p=
assing through here. Being on a hill and near a river helps I believe.=C2=
=A0 =C2=A0I'll be interested to see if you get another peak and if I also g=
et an influx of migrants in the next week to ten days. Migration is one of =
those amazing phenomena that
