Thank you for the information about Mink. I was unsure whether he was nati=
ve or partially domestic as I could not find any definitive information one=
way or the other via Google, etc. This one is the fourth that I have seen=
in the area between Cole Harbour and Seaforth over the past couple of year=
s. I=E2=80=99ve had one on Salt Marsh Trail, one with young at the parking=
lot at Conrad beach (current parking area) and another at the end of Lower=
Three Fathom Harbour Rd. The current Seaforth Mink was the most =E2=80=9C=
photogenic=E2=80=9D, possibly because he was on the rocks positioned slight=
ly above my head and he probably did not feel threatened by me or the camer=
a shutter noise.

I watched a wild mink for some moments late last fall on the Mersey River.=
=C2=A0 It came ashore and rubbed its neck-frontal area repeatedly on a flat=
slate rock, then loped around me, exploring here and there only 6-8 m away=
, ignoring me. Then along the river bank-forest edge and out of site.=C2=A0=
Delightful.=C2=A0 I wondered if another mink had placed its musk on that f=
lat rock, or it had smelled some other odor there. =C2=A0=C2=A0(No beavers =
around the area for castoreum deposits.)=C2=A0 Otherwise, why the apparent =
fondness for the rock?

There was way to much fog along the coast from Lawrencetown eastwards for a=
ny meaningful bird watching or photography this morning.=C2=A0 However, I c=
ame across a very friendly Mink as I walked back across the tidal flats aft=
er scanning the Canada Geese for the Pink-footed goose at Fisherman=E2=80=
=99s Reserve/Causeway Road in Seaforth.=C2=A0 The mink just popped up from =
the rocks alongside the Causeway Road.=C2=A0 He seemed to be very curious a=
bout me and my camera, letting me take numerous photos of him before he got=
bored and scooted across the road.=C2=A0 These photos were taken from abou=
t 3 meters away.=C2=A0 Posted a few pictures of him in my gallery at:
