Hello everyone:

I just got the following request from a student at Trent University. If any=
one can help her, you can reach her at: ktisshaw@trentu.ca<mailto:ktisshaw@=
trentu.ca>

Pat

I am contacting Nature Nova Scotia because I am about to embark on a journe=
y to Nova Scotia to study cattails. My thesis involves examining difference=
s between fertility and habitat preferences between broadleaf cattail (Typh=
a latifolia), narrow-leaved cattail (T. angustifolia), and their hybrid (T.=
x glauca) in Nova Scotia and the Great Lakes area. I was wondering if ther=
e have been any recent observations of the non-native cattail, T. angustifo=
lia. It seems like T. angustifolia is a lot rarer in Nova Scotia than in On=
tario, and we want to investigate this strange phenomenon. This will help u=
s in understanding the reproduction and habitat preferences of invasive spe=
cies. Please let me know if you know anyone who might know where the non-na=
tive cattail is found.

Thanks so much,
Kat
