   On this week-end I took a two-day drive from Kentville to =
Digby...Yarmouth ....Liverpool....and home via new Ross. A wonderfully =
photographic event but a wash-out as far as birds go. Sadly the places =
en route that traditionally yielded good seabird sightings were bereft =
of birds...no Loons....no Scoters...no long-tailed Ducks ( Oldsquaws ) =
...no Mergansers ...no Guillemots...etc.

On June 3rd my Year to date total bird species was 77, Looking back =
over the last 25 years at June 1st I have not reached 100 species for =
the last five years ...previous to that I averaged 120 species at June =
1st for ten years , with a high of 154 in 2002.=20

Things are definitely looking sad. :( Andy
