I also noticed verrys yesterday. I heard a lot of calls coming from the =
unburned side of the boundary of the Seven Mile Lake burn site. There =
is one nesting in our woodlot that I hear daily (including yesterday). =
Also one behind the park offices has been vocalizing regularly for a =
couple of weeks. I am still a rooky at this, but it appears that this =
species appears to nest slightly later than a lot of our feathered =
friends of the woodlands.

Interesting to learn that the increased veery calling was more or less =
synchronous from Keji to Somerset.

The air is full of various Veery calls here in Somerset this evening.

I would estimate a minimum of 12 calling through the layers of forest =
and stream thickets around our house.

The odd Song Sparrow and Common Yellowthroat try to chime in but are no =
match for the chorus of the Veerys as night approaches.
