A friend of mine uses a garmin product called inReach. I don't know much about it but she is in Search and Rescue and has awesome map and compass skills but she quite likes using the inReach to map her hiking route and to send out a message with coor if needed.

All,

Has anyone purchased a handheld GPS unit that they'd like to describe the pros/cons of? I'm in the market for a new one (I'm convinced I have lost my GPS unit - I know, the ultimate in irony). SIMPLE is the key. I had a Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx, and on the first menu there were nine items...I only ever used one (waypoints). The electronic compass was inconsistent, therefore not reliable. Are electronic compasses getting any better?

Thanks,
Randy
