While doing a shorebird survey at the far end of the flats, at the edge of =
the water, I spotted what appeared to be an all-white medium-sized shorebir=
d feeding in an erratic fashion. On closer look the bird was indeed white o=
n head, neck, and below, with a white supercilium; legs were yellowish oran=
ge; bill thin and black, some darkish colour on back and scaps. The most in=
teresting  was its method of feeding, new to me. It appeared to be feeding =
in circles but was in fact feeding in a crouching position, with head down =
and rear up, pecking rapidly, and moving about erratically. I presume it wa=
s in juvenile or winter plumage.

Unfortunately no photo and as I reached for my notebook it flew off and I c=
ould not find it again.
