Hello,
I noticed a good example today of Pileated WP activity a few feet=20
from a driveway which is used daily and an entrance road to the woodlot.=20
The most recent banquet was a small (4" dbh) dead poplar with one side=20
pecked away over a length of ~8' exposing many insect bore holes. A few=20
feet back and to the left a dead Maple snag had many old feeding holes=20
and just right of this a live Spruce had many old feeding holes.
It is always a pleasure to hear and see that bird.
     Yt, DW, Kentville
