I used to be surprised to hear Woodpeckers drumming in Winter but seems to be normal for them and now I look forward to it. Today I heard my first Hairy WP  blasting its single rapid-fire drum. Once Spring nears the drums become more repetitive and frequent,  establishing their territories.
