Hi, Veronica.

I have caught Dovekies that were landed like this in the past - not too difficult. Dovekies, like some other seabirds, cannot take off from land. To become airborne, they need to be on water. Your Dovekie will quickly deteriorate if it is not taken back to salt water.

To check on its condition before you release it, you could talk to the folks at either the Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre or Hope for Wildlife.

Good luck,
Susann
