Hi,

The number does not appear to be one that would be used on mallards. See
here: https://www.pwrc.usgs.gov/bbl/resources/presize7.cfm

Was the band bi-coloured? Perhaps the bird is of domestic origin. The other
possibility is a bird banded in a country other than Canada or the US, but
this seems highly unlikely for a mallard.
