Subject: [NatureNS] Vortex of crows

Hi all:

I have a friend who asked me about something that he saw in Bridgewater ove=
r the winter. I know about the crows gathering and then setting off altoge=
ther to a roost site. The flight to the roosts consists of large numbers s=
preading out in line for miles across the sky. I've seen groups of 500-300=
0 doing this. Over the winter I see it often where they will circle around=
 before setting off.

My friend observed a flight of crows over the new bridge in Bridgewater whe=
re crows came in and then went into a vortex, swirling around and round for=
a long time with over a thousand in this vortex, which spread from the gro=
und way up into the air. I've never heard of a tight vortex of crows like =
this with a gathering, with a votex that lasted so long.

So, has anyone else witnessed this.
