I have seen Lemna in scattered places south of that line: our pond on =
Wyman Road when I was a kid (but not in recent decades); Hourglass =
Lake, Digby county; and in roadside ditches near a mink farm in =
Raynardton, Yarmouth County (an indicator of past sins; those folks are =
very careful these days). =20

=20

So its occurrence is highly sporadic and highly local.

Hi All,

While checking Lemnaceae in Zinck and in Roland and Smith I noticed =
that it appears to be absent in the generally more acid area of NS (i.e. =
south of the Canso to Digby line).=20

Is it really absent there or does it follow from standing pools in =
the acid SW being more difficult to reach ?=20

Yt, DW, Kentville.
