I heard the piercing call of a Broad-winged Hawk today (E Dalhousie, Kings Co). I could not find the caller. They are present in the woods around here during spring and summer but seems late. I do read In Ian McLaren’s book that some juveniles linger and occasionally overwinter. Don’t think that would be a call even a Blue Jay could mimic.
