Black-bellied Whistling Duck - Northfield - May 20, 2019. 1093 Northfield R=
d. We are allowed to go for this bird. It is on a corner so please park bes=
ide the driveway. Do not block the driveway. Also, I explained our birding =
code to the owners of which I was told that I could go closer to the bird, =
but did not. So do not violate this by going close and chasing it off. The =
house owners are Helen and Gary Eisnor. There is a pond beside the road whe=
re the duck tends along with two mallards. When on the road if it is tucked=
under the bank you will not see it from the road. Kevin Lantz and I almost=
missed it as a result. We are told we can walk up the driveway and look ba=
ck to see if the duck is there. There are feeders in front of the house and=
we the whistling duck walks up to the feeders with the mallards. Directio=
ns: It is in Lunenburg County. If coming from Halifax take the Blockhouse e=
xit and go towards Bridgewater. Take the turnoff to Northfield at the corne=
r store and drive about five km. If coming from Bridgewater go to the Maitl=
and/Northfield turnoff and turn left. This is across from the corner store =
and drive about 5 km.
