Dear All,

With respect to Right Whales in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and means
to prevent collisions, has any thought been given to alerting whales of
nearby ships ?; horn.  Or alerting ships of nearby whales ?; sonar.

Whales are intelligent and a standard code (e.g. long, long short)
transmitted by underwater speakers every few minutes at a frequency
within their audible range should quickly be associated with ships nearby.

Slowing to 10 knots may give more time for whales to evade
collision but why not use sonar ?

Yt DW, Kentville
