The Grainery Food Co-Operative got it's start selling organic food at the Halifax City Farmer's Market on Lower Water Street, North America's oldest farmer's market.

- Sunday at 1 PM by the North Branch Library, Gottingen Street
- Wednesday at 5 PM by the Spring Garden Branch Library
- Thursday at 12:30 PM by Victoria Park (corner of Spring Garden / South Park)

North End Community Gardening Association (NECGA) is a registered non-profit organization founded in 1999 to promote urban agriculture and community development. In Halifax, there are currently two established gardens, one on Brunswick and another on Prescott. A third garden is in the works at Gorsebrook Field, in the south end, off Wellington.
