Online Membership Form (and Donations) — PayPal / Credit Card

The membership application, whether for new or continuing membership, may be completed online, with payment submitted using your credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or Amex) via PayPal (for some information about the PayPal organization click here); please note that a PayPal account is not required.

Amongst other things, the membership form allows opting in to our GANSmem mailing list. This is highly recommended:

The mechanism we use for providing access information to our members is the GANSmem mailing list, a moderated email list with only GANS members as subscribers. It is a low traffic list, consisting almost entirely of various notices from members of the executive, either about GANS business in general, or about upcoming monthly meetings. The latter is not normally something of interest to members living outside Nova Scotia, but there aren't many such notices. Any notices of password changes for the Members Only Area (MOA) are sent to this mailing list, but are not provided directly in any other way. Occasionally notices of new databases in the MOA also appear on the listserv.

If you are a new member and choose to be subscribed to the GANSmem mailing list, the subscription is normally carried out very soon after the dues for a new membership have been sent via PayPal, but it is not an automated procedure so delays may occasionally occur. Following subscription, the mailing list server sends an automated welcome message which contains access information for the Members Only Area.

A donations button is also provided on the membership forms, should you wish to send a donation online via PayPal (again, no PayPal account is required, just a credit card); please note that completion of the membership form is not required to send a donation. Donations are eligible for a Canadian tax receipt.

Additional Details of Membership

  • The Association's annual membership fee is $30.00.
  • Membership is by calendar year.
  • New members joining on or before the 15th of November are enrolled for the current year and sent back issues of the NSG unless otherwise requested.
  • If you join after 15 November in any year, official membership begins effective 1 January of the following year; however, access to the MOA begins immediately.
  • Membership in good standing is begun and maintained by payment of the membership dues. Dues not paid by 1 February shall cause removal of the member from the roll. Good standing is resumed upon payment of arrears or by rejoining.
