National Sport Center-Atlantic Presents

Podium Performance Series # 10

" The Integration of Sport Science into the Annual Plan"

In today's highly competitive world of sport, athletes and coaches are constantly looking for ways to improve and evaluate performance. In recent years the trend has been towards a methodical and scientific approach to training. This approach is maximized when supported by an ongoing sport science program. Thresholds, power development, medical screening, nutrition counseling, VO2 max, psychological preparation are just some of the considerations that go into developing an Integrated Sport Science Program for your athletes. With all these considerations, how can a coach coordinate the science involved?

The National Sport Center Atlantic is pleased to have Mr. Stephen R. Norris, Ph.D, Director of Sport Science, and Exercise Physiologist at the National Sport Center - Calgary. Stephen has an extensive background working with athletes in speed skating and swimming. The presentation will emphasize practical applications of sport science and the how to of developing an integrated support science team for athletes. Athletes in Steve's care come from both team and individual sports.

As coaches we spend hours trying to produce changes within many physical and psychological categories. Come out to the session and find ways to develop your plan and ways to validate its progress.

Test tubes available at the door!
