Fifteen paddlers turned out Saturday morning, July 16 for the 1st annual Musquodoboit River Canoe Race, and although numbers were less then hoped for those in attendance had a great race. The course, encompassing the river from Brandy Springs to Lays Lake, offered gentle meanders, deep water, few rocks and beautiful scenery.

The Eastern Shore Ground Search and Rescue was instrumental in hosting the race and provided command / admin. support with their bus, bouy placement, patrol boat and communications. Roccos Restaurant of Dartmouth provided the after race lunch and prizes were provided by the Links at Penn Hills Golf Course and Molsons. Thanks to Sherry Archibald for admin / registration co-ordination.

The proceeds from the race were donated to the Eastern Shore Ground Search and Rescue to aid with the valuable community service they provide.
