Hi Raymond,

What you describe sounds like a browser hijack attempt; hidden pop-up
code disguised as a legitimate email in order to take you to someplace
where your name and password can be recorded. A lot of people like to
automatically save their passwords on their computers, using a password
manager (it comes with Windows). That way, when they start their browser
and go to a site that requires a password from them, it automatically
enters itself and saves them a little bit of typing.

It's also extremely unsecure and, as you have just experienced, a
hijack attempt (had you been using your browser to read email like a lot
of modern systems do now) could have quickly sidetracked your browser to
this hijack site, grabbed your name and password before you even realized
what happened. If you know (and trust) the person(s) who sent you the
email, write them and ask them why it is doing this (in case it was,
simply, an innocent attempt of sending some sort of joke clip along). If
you don't know the person(s) who sent the email, delete it unread. It
will save you a lot of grief.
