Hi Mike,

This doesn't concern CCN as your built-in mail program, whether
it's Outlook, Thunderbird, Pegasus, Eudora or any other popular mail
reader, controls the handling of attachments and should associate
attachments properly. CCN's responsibility is to deliver the email
and its sundry attachments to the recipient. CCN's mail system
doesn't alter any attachments and will only delete certain attachments
with particular extensions (see below for these).

If the attachment is failing, two possibilities come to mind; 1)
the mail reader program has been corrupted and is failng to associate
the attchment properly or 2) the attachment is either corrupt or a
renamed virus/spyware and the incorrect association may be actually
protecting Vista from being infected.

The former can be fixed by a re-install or a move to another mail
reader; the latter can be solved by running a virus scanner such as
AVGFree 7.5 on it or a spyware scanner such as Ad-Aware SE and SpyBot
v1.4. PCs have always been susceptible to secretly renamed virii
which is why CCN prevents .pif, .bmp and .wmx files from being
accepted via our mail system. These can be virii hidden within
innocent extensions that your computer will automatically run and view
without scanning. We have seen many such virii hidden in this
manner.

What is the extension of the attachment in question and can you
send it to us for further inspection?
