I answered the copy of this letter sent to the office. Should have
cc'ed the userhelp list.

Hi Mark. The command would have been:

telnet chebucto.ca

but to be honest it is not a real good idea to do this if you're coming from a
non-Chebucto network since it sends all the data packets as plain text that can
be intercepted.

A better idea is to use SSH, which is encrypted telnet. If you're on a
Mac, SSH is built in. Just open a terminal window (found under Applications)
then type in: ssh username@chebucto.ca

Windows needs an third party SSH program. A good one is Putty.exe which
is a free download here:

http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html

Download and run putty.exe and tell it the host is chebucto.ca and the
connection type is SSH. Before connecting up, in the left hand side
configuration window go to Terminal and Keyboard and change the Backspace key
to Control-H. Save this session in the Putty main window (call it Chebucto for
ease of use) and next time when you open Putty you just have to double click on
the Chebucto name in the Saved sessions list to connect up to our text service.
