Hi John,

It's been years since I've played with colour on CCN, (its been 10 years since
I've had access to a colour terminal :-) but in principle a colour terminal
emulator on a computer should work as well. In other words, you need a
terminal program on your computer that supports colour (I use Putty.) Then you
need to have it set to a terminal emulation that supports colour. I know VT240
is a 4-colour terminal, and I think ANSI supports better colour (16 colour?),
but other than that I'm not sure, but I know there are better.

Next, the terminal emulation on each step of the way needs to be set to colour
as well (if any system is set to a monochrome terminal, such as a vt100, that's
all it will pass on) so you need to have your terminal emulation on CCN set to
a colour terminal. If you are then telnetting out, the next system also needs
to be told you are using a colour terminal, etc.

That's the theory, but I don't know if anyone has ever done it successfully.

I have heard the line from the TELCO about they don't support using phone lines
for dialup, but they sell their own dialup service, so they are pulling your
leg. On the other hand, the human ear can stand a lot more noise than a 56 K
dialup can handle, it really has to be a VERY good line to get the maximum
speed.

Hope this helps, but it still leaves it as an exercise for you to figure out
which is the best terminal combination for your purpose.
