Street Theatre! Protest Against Corporate Rule! Nova Nada Solidarity!

noon - 1:00 Saturday, OCT 24!!!

HALIFAX YOUTH UNNIrving THE IRVING EMPIRE

Youth for Social Justice Halifax is staging a protest against Irving
owned companies in response to their repeated disregard for both
community and environment. This action has emerged in the wake of the
flight of Nova Nada'a monks from their Nova Scotian home earlier this
month, another example of community and environmental sacrifice due to
Irving's unwillingness to sway from their self centered corporate agenda.
the protest will be held Saturday, Oct 24 from noon until 1 pm. at the
Irving station on the corner of Robie and Charles St.

Youth for Social Justice is calling on the people of the Maritimes to
participate in the growing campaign to boycott Irving owned companies.
All are invited to show their support this Saturday and learn about the
boycott and the many companies which are part of the Irving empire.

"We refuse to sit idle and watch as Irving bullies the citizens and
government of the Maritimes time and again. Despite their repeated
efforts to buy themselves positive press we must make sure that noone
forgets the Irvings' deplorable rap sheet of Nova Nada, unfair labour
practices and the Irving Whale" comments' Cass Elliott, past coordinator
of Youth for Social Justice.

The protest will include popular theatre, musical performance, picketing,
information distribution, and even a tea party! Along with Youth for
Social Justice will be many other citizens groups and supporters of the
Irving boycott, such as Oxfam-Canada.

The Youth for Social Justice Network started its Maritime chapter in
1991. It consists of youth groups in various communites around the
Maritimes (halifax, Wolfeville, Charlottetown, Dieppe, etc.) Youth for
Social Justice (YSJ) is an organization run by youth for youth . Our
goals include youth empowerment and community development.
