Resource Alert / FLASH D'INFORMATION SUR LES RESSOURCES DISPONIBLES Funding: The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) has launched a pilot program to help community organizations and universities join forces to tackle issues. Applications must be submitted jointly by one or more universities and at least one community organization. It is generally expected that there will be two or more non-university partners. Two competitions are scheduled to fund up to 16 Community-University Research Alliances (CURA). Each will receive up to $200,000 a year for three years for a program that includes a research component, an education and training component, and a knowledge sharing component. The first deadline for Letters of Intent is April 1, 1999. Waste Exchange: Nova Scotia Materials Exchange The Nova Scotia Materials Exchange (NSME) is a program of Clean Nova Scotia that attempts to divert waste resources from disposal. Anyone can submit a listing of materials wanted and browse the brief description of materials available on their web site at http://www.clean.ns.ca/wxh.htm. Items such as office equipment to binders have been listed. People can also mail or fax forms available from the NSME. Once a match is made, the name of the company or organization is forwarded to the inquirer. Material listings and inquiries are free but a transaction fee may be charged to help defray operating costs. Les demandes de financement devront être présentées conjointement par un ou plusieurs groupes universitaires et au moins un organisme communautaire. On s'attend généralement à ce que les projets soient présentés par deux partenaires non universitaires ou plus.
