The second annual "People's Theatre Festival" will take place in Halifax
June 1st - 3rd, 2000. This year, the festival is happening at St.
Patrick's Alexandra School (2271 Maitland St.)

This is a call to action for those who use theatre as a tool to work for
change, express creativity, strengthen community, stimulate democracy...

The three day festival will be filled with workshops, performances and
events. Some already planned include a theatre work by The Irondale
Ensemble Project, a New Games day and popular theatre workshops. We invite
you to add your events to the list. If you're not sure that what's
happening in your community is right for the festival, give us a call.

Goals of the festival include:

- continuing a dialouge on the definition and position of popular theatre
in the province today.

- building the membershipof the Canadian Popular Theatre Alliance of Nova
Scotia (which will meet at the festival).

- raising awareness of popularizing theatre.
