The History of Swordfishing
Wednesday June 7, 2000
Nova Scotia Museum
Museum Auditorium 7:30 pm

Join us at the Nova Scotia Museum for a presentation on the history of
Swordfishing, by Franklyn d’Entremont of Pubnico. Mr. d’Entremont will
discuss harpoon fishing, arguably one of the most selective fisheries in the
world, which is still being used for harvesting swordfish and tuna. Mr. d’
Entremont will also describe his deep passion for this method of fishing and
for the many other creatures that live in the open ocean ecosystem.
Gretchen Fitzgerald, a master’s student at Dalhousie University will also be
present at the talk to discuss the biological impacts of Swordfishing.

This presentation is being co-sponsored by the Ecology Action Centre who
recently conducted and released a study of the Swordfish fishery in Atlantic
Canada.
