Good news everyone, the CUPE web site is up and running and you can now send a message to all Halifax Regional Council members with the click of a mouse button. The message can be the one already on the site pre formatted for use or you can write your own words and send it. Municipal elections are being held on October 21st in Nova Scotia so please send a message before then. I would encourage each and every one of you to send a message today. Tell council to keep wastewater treatment a public owned and operated system. Ask if they agree that corporations will want it all, first wastewater and then water? Ask them to tell you why the corporate track records of corruption, price gouging and environmental disasters will be any different in Halifax then they were in other Countries around the world? It doesn't mater where you live to send in a message, we need to show council members that this is a very serious issue and that people across Canada are watching and care what happens in Halifax. Remember your community may be next if the privatization of public services is not stopped in Halifax now.
