Greetings, Below is a press release, which announces the website of the Community Election Committee. Check it out for information on the positions of candidates in the HRM municipal election. Paulette Sadoway October 12, 2000 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SURVEY SAYS. . . Municipal Candidates’ Survey Results Launched on Website HALIFAX - The Community Election Committee (CEC), a local Halifax group, today launched their website to release the responses of candidates in the municipal election, to a survey on various election issues. The website, located at http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/politicalaction is designed so that people can see how candidates running in their district, as well as candidates for mayor, responded to the CEC survey (copy attached) which was sent out on September 19. Main issues in the survey are in the areas of: ? Accountability ? Public Ownership and Control of Services ? Service Cuts ? Labour Relations ? General, including Harbour Solutions Project, Transportation, Supplementary School Board Funding and Pesticide By-law “We are quite pleased with the number of responses we received, even though many candidates didn’t respond at all” said Cliff White, spokesperson for the group. “As well, some of the responses show that there are candidates running in this election who have obviously done their homework on what we feel are very important issues in this election.” Responses to the survey are recorded verbatim as they were received, so that voters can see exactly how their candidates feel about the issues.
