Conference Announcement- +++++ PEOPLE AND THE PLANET +++++ Changing Values for a Sustainable Future On the 10th Anniversary of the Rio Earth Summit the Sierra Club of Canada and the Kingston Society for Conservation Biologists are calling on all those who care about the deteriorating state of our natural and human environments to come together for a major four day conference. The Vision: One thousand Canadian activists, inspirational keynote speakers, challenging workshops, music, art, film and fun. Seasoned environmental campaigners and grassroots organizers developing and sharing strategies for fundamental change. The Goals: * A reinvigorated and expanded environmental movement * A Peoples' Agenda to the G-8 Summit and the U.N. World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg 2002 * Four days that will change your life, open your mind and make your work for change work! Canadian NGOs and coalitions are encouraged to "piggy-back" their meetings within the People and the Planet Conference. Your organization will have open time on the first two days for your meetings. Recommendations from issue-based caucuses will be brought forward to be adopted by the whole in plenary sessions during the final two days of the conference. All participants will hear keynotes designed to expand our thinking to address the profound challenge of our time - changing values for a sustainable world.
