This message is for everyone who ever sends sust-mar more than two
messages per month.

Firstly, THANK YOU for your contribution. That goes for everyone, whether
you send sust-mar lots of messages, or just a few. It goes without saying
that without you, there would be no sust-mar.

Sometimes, however, there is too much of a good thing. With over 300
subscribers and potential contributors -- and only one daily message going
out -- it is easy for sust-mar to get inundated with more messages than I
can post. That means I have to make hard choices about what to post and
what not to post.

I weed out messages that have html/mime coding in them, that are cc'd to
multiple recipients, that are off-topic, etc. I still have more than I can
post.

*** In order to give everyone a chance to get "on the air" I am limiting
messages to one per person per month.

You can send more than that, and I will put second and subsequent messages
in the queue ... but they will be a lower priority. First priority will go
to people who have not had a message posted within the preceding month.

This means you cannot count on getting reminders, follow-ups and
corrections posted. You are probably only going to get one shot at it ...
so please try to make your monthly message count!

If you have lots of good things to say, please select the message that you
want posted the most every month ... otherwise I will select for you, in a
rather arbitrary way (first in!).

Suggestion: if you are going to send several messages about an event, ask
people in your first message to RSVP if they want more info. Then, you can
keep them informed without relying on sust-mar.

If you have lots and lots to say, consider starting your own mailing list.
For example, Alexa McDonough's office had so many messages, that it
started a separate list just for people who want those messages. A message
went out on sust-mar telling people about the new list, and a lot of you
signed up. Sierra Club and other groups have done similar thing.

There's method to my madness, really ...
~paul :)
