Halifax's Bike Again! Community Bike Project of the Ecology Action Centre
presents a seven-week bike repair and maintenance course.

The course will run each Sunday morning from 9:00-11:00 a.m., beginning
May 25 and ending July 13 (there will be no class on June 22). The class
will be conducted on a drop-in basis. That is to say, you do not have to
attend every class, you can just come whenever you like.

The cost is $5 per class (free for current Bike Again! volunteers). The
money will go back into Bike Again! to help support this local community
project and encourage sustainable transportation in the H.R.M.

The outline of the course is as follows:

Lesson 1 (May 25): introduction to tools; wheels, tires & tubes
Lesson 2 (June 1): hubs & bearings
Lesson 3 (June 8): cranksets, chainrings, crankarms, bottom brackets
Lesson 4 (June 15): cassettes, freewheels, chains, headsets, forks,
handlebars, stems
Lesson 5 (June 29): shifting systems - levers, derailleurs, cables
Lesson 6 (July 6): braking systems - levers, shoes, cables
Lesson 7 (July 13): pedals, saddles & seatposts, + Q & A free-for all!

The course will take place at Bella Muse, on the northwest corner of the
intersection of Agricola St. and Charles St. in Halifax.

To register and learn what materials to bring, please call Stacey Willick
at 423-9813.

Bike Again! works to make bicycles accessible to everyone and to
encourage this affordable and healthy mode of transportation. We have a
large and growing collection of used bikes and parts that we receive
through donations. A group of volunteers works to fix these bikes and
redistribute them to those who want or need a bicycle. If you would like
to donate a bicyle, want a bicycle, or would like to begin volunteering
with Bike Again!, please contact the group by e-mail at
bikeagain@hotmail.com
