Canada Research Chair for Environmental Studies

UPEI is seeking applications for a Canadian Research Chair in Environmental
Sciences. Below is a short description of the position and the website.

http://www.upei.ca/research/UPEI_Canada_Research_Chairs/environmentalscience
s/environmentalsciences.html

Environmental Sciences
Prince Edward Island has a small, heavily-cultivated land mass that is
transected by rivers with important estuarine and freshwater components. It
supports a land-based agricultural economy and expanding shellfish and
aquaculture industries. All of its potable water supply is from ground
water. Together, these circumstances provide an ideal environment to carry
out research aimed at maintaining ecosystem integrity, as well as human,
animal and plant health, against the challenges of intense anthropogenic
activity. Within a multidisciplinary framework encompassing environmental
studies and sciences and in a context of environmental and
community sustainability, UPEI researchers collaborate regionally,
nationally and internationally to address the effects of agricultural and
aquacultural practices on ecosystem integrity, community health and health
of organisms. We offer exciting opportunities for researchers in fields such
as, but not restricted to: ecotoxicology, landscape ecology, ecosystem
health, conservation biology, restoration ecology, and environmental
epidemiology. Our vision: Ground-breaking, socially-relevant research of
international significance that builds
upon existing excellence and collaborations.
