NOVA SCOTIA LIGHTHOUSE PRESERVATION SOCIETY (NSLPS) OFFERS SUMMER BOAT 
TRIPS, July to September 2004

Lunenburg to East Ironbound Island in Mahone Bay
Saturday, July 10
Trip leader: Tony Thompson, Past President NSLPS
Leave Lunenburg at 1:00 PM. Return about 6:00 PM
The guided day trip to this island with its unusual lighthouse leaves from 
the historic town of Lunenburg. Enjoy an ocean trip on a big Canadian Coast 
Guard approved"Cape Islander" charter boat past Battery Point Breakwater 
Lighthouse, and Cross Island Lighthouse, with a view of Pearl Island 
Lighthouse (visibility permitting). Land on East Ironbound, where the 
lighthouse tower rises from the roof at the front of a small dwelling, and 
take a walk around this scenic island at the mouth of Mahone Bay. No 
children under 12 years of age.
Cost $35.00. Registration required. Register quickly as this trip takes 
place soon.

On-The-Water Tours of Halifax Harbour & Lighthouses
July 24, August 28, and September 25
Depart Purcell's Cove Marina, 521 Purcell's Cove Road at 9 AM
Return at approximately 4 PM
Get an on-the-water view of Halifax' magnificent harbour and see the 
Lighthouses of Halifax Harbour and Approaches close up, aboard the Sea 
Tiger, a Canadian Coast Guard approved 42-foot "Cape Islander" charter 
boat. NSLPS guides will tell you about the lighthouses, all of which have 
interesting histories: Maugher Beach (on McNabs Island), Chebucto Head, 
Sambro, Devils Island, and Georges Island. There will be a trip ashore on 
Sambro Island, to get a close look at the oldest operating lighthouse in 
North America, a Federal Heritage Classified Building, and have lunch 
(weather permitting). Please wear sneakers and bring a jacket. Rain gear 
may be needed, as well. No children under 12 years of age. Cost - $50 per 
person, including lunch and refreshments. A portion of the trip fee will be

Offshore Trip to Seal Island
August 14 and 15
Weather dates: August 28 and 29

Two day offshore trip 18 miles out to sea off Cape Sable Island.
This is our premium offshore trip, which only takes place every second 
year. It's a wonderful weekend. Enjoy a two hour offshore voyage in the 
Canadian Coast Guard approved "Cape Islander" charter boat Adam and 
Samantha. On the trip, weather permitting, view the towering and historic 
Cape Sable Lighthouse, a Federal Heritage Classified Building, from the 
water. Then, visit one of Nova Scotia's most remote and interesting 
islands, Seal Island. Stay overnight in the fishermen's cook house and 
explore the island, enjoying beaches, rocky shores, shipwrecks, ocean and 
bird life, seals and sheep! See the magnificent lighthouse -- the oldest 
wooden light in Nova Scotia, and one of the important pre-Confederation 
buildings in our province. Learn the fascinating history of the island and 
the lighthouse from your guide. Limited to 15 participants. No children 
under 12 years of age. Cost $70.00, including boat trip and accommodation. 
You bring your own food.
