A Special Message from AlterNet

Dear AlterNet reader,

Greetings. I'm writing to urge you to see the highly
regarded film "Uncovered" -- now in theatres near you --
and to invite fast-moving readers to a special Fight Fox
event and concert in NYC on September 1st.
-Don Hazen, Executive Editor

"Uncovered" Hits the Theatres
As many readers know, AlterNet worked closely with
filmmaker Robert Greenwald* to bring his powerful film
"Uncovered: The War on Iraq" to the public some months ago,
collaborating on a highly successful "alternative"
distribution model. The film dovetailed nicely with the
AlterNet/Seven Stories/Akashic book "The Five Biggest Lies
Bush Told Us About Iraq" ( http://fivelies.com ). Then we
helped launch Greenwald's record-breaking "Outfoxed" along
with our own sally against Fox News -- but more on that in
a moment.

Now a significantly revised, completely re-edited version
of "Uncovered," distributed by Cinema Libre Films, is in
theatres across the land, with new in-depth interviews with
arms control expert David Kay, plus new segments on media
coverage of the run-up to the war and the disinformation
that led to the invasion.

Please go see this documentary, even if you have seen it
already; the new stuff is really juicy.

Just as importantly, recruit friends and family to see this
terrific piece of filmmaking -- go this week or over the
weekend to help ensure the film gets a long run. The film's
strength is that it looks at the Administration's case for
war in Iraq through the eyes of Republicans, Democrats and
Independents -- all experts in their fields, from the CIA
to the Pentagon to weapons inspectors.

REVIEWS FOR 'UNCOVERED'

"Sober and devastating" -Time Magazine

"A must-see for every American who cares about their
country." -Jean Oppenheimer, Screen Daily

"Greenwald's cinematic legal brief is thorough,
dispassionate and damning." - Glenn Whipp, The LA Daily News

"I don't see how anyone, Republican or Democrat could even
think about voting for Bush after watching this
documentary." -Moby

"Where Mr. Moore's film builds its case through sight gags,
suggestive juxtapositions and emotional appeals, Mr.
Greenwald's film is sober and meticulous. ... Americans now
want a rooting interest in their journalism, just as they do
in their sports and entertainment. Mr. Moore knows how to
give that to them, and so -- in a much more dignified,
documented way -- does Mr. Greenwald." -Dave Kehr, NY
Times, 8/20

(*In the interest of disclosure: Robert Greenwald is the
Vice President of the board of directors of the Independent
Media Institute, parent organization of AlterNet, and a long
time supporter of the organization.)
