JOB POSTING - COORDINATOR - ACIC

The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation is a unique coalition of
Atlantic Canadian organizations working on international development and
cooperation issues, working together to achieve sustainable global
development in a peaceful and healthy environment, with social justice,
human dignity, and participation for all.

ACIC supports its members in development and developmental education through
collective leadership, networking, information, training and coordination,
and represents their interests when dealing with government and others.  We
currently have 52 members, including national organizations and grassroots
organizations as well as individuals from across the Atlantic Provinces.

ACIC is looking for a responsible, experienced person to fill a maternity
leave (nine months, with possibility of extension to up to one year) for the
position of Coordinator.

The Coordinator is responsible for:

· Overall program/project administration and development
· Human resource management – staff, consultants, and interns
· Outreach and education activities
· Membership services, including membership meetings, newsletter
development, website development, and professional development workshops
· Public Engagement Campaigns, including the current ethical images campaign
· Fund raising and proposal writing
· Representing ACIC and members at policy consultations for the Canadian
government
· Office administration

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience working in international and community development
· Experience working overseas in a cross-cultural setting
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· Demonstrated proposal and report writing skills
· Knowledge of working with CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency)
and results-based management
· Excellent organizational skills
· Experience organizing workshops and conferences
· Experience working with non-governmental organizations
· Demonstrated ability to motivate and empower staff and volunteers
· Demonstrated ability to work as a team player
· Experience working directly with a Board of Directors
· Ability to foster a culture of innovation, empowerment, and learning
· Proven financial management skills
· Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, internet,
e-mail, web publishing packages)
· Experience organizing public engagement campaigns
· Experience developing and publishing websites
· Experience in editing, layout, and publishing of newsletters and other
documents
· Policy analysis and development skills

Location:  Halifax, NS
Salary:  to commensurate with experience – (salary range 27,000 – 29,000 per
annum, pro-rated)
