The Ecology Action Centre is seeking a part-time
Coordinator for the TRAX project. TRAX has been
actively promoting sustainable transportation in Nova
Scotia since 1999. This position requires an individual
who is able to work effectively and confidently in both
an advocacy role and with the corporate sector.

An organized, knowledgeable and outgoing individual 
is needed to:

* Administer TRAX's workplace Trip Reduction Programs;
* Coordinate ADAPT (Association of Doctors for the
Advancement of Physically-active Transportation);
* Participate on HRM's Bicycle Advisory Committee;
* Respond to public and media inquiries; and
* Contribute generally to the TRAX Project and the
Ecology Action Centre.

Desired Skills and Experience:

* Strong interest in promoting sustainable, including active,
transportation
* Knowledge of environmental, health and economic
benefits of sustainable transportation
* Familiarity with Workplace Trip Reduction Programs
* Strong communication skills, including public speaking
* Experience working with the media
* Strong organizational and administrative skills
* Experience in public education and advocacy
* Experience compiling and designing newsletters
* Experience managing volunteers
* Experience developing funding project proposals
* Ability to effectively manage multiple projects
* Computer literacy in MS Office, including Word, Excel,
FrontPage
* Experience with working in an NGO environment, and a
* Persistent, diplomatic, optimistic approach

Duration: September 1, 2005 - March 31, 2006 (with
potential for extension)

Wage: $18.66/hour

The position is part-time (20 hours/week). Pending funding
approval, the position can increase to 35 hours/week.

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
