BACKGROUND

The NSEN is a society of individuals and organizations
whose common purpose is the conservation and
enhancement of the environment. NSEN is a provincial
affiliate of the Canadian Environmental Network (CEN).
NSEN members who are non-profit, non-governmental
organizations have the option to automatically become
members of the CEN. The purpose of the NSEN is to
provide support for its members in their efforts to achieve
their goals, by facilitating information exchange and by
providing a medium for coordinated action plans. NSEN is
a provincial umbrella organization that links environmental
groups in order to maximize the exchange of information
and action on environmental issues.

POSITION -- COORDINATOR (Part-time)

The incumbent in this position is responsible for the 
on-going information referral and networking function of
environmental non-profit organizations across the province.
This will involve email list serve management,
bookkeeping, website development, special events
planning, coordinating and marketing of education and
leadership programs, liaison with provincial environmental
education caucus and national Canadian Environmental
Network office. S/he will report to the Steering Committee
of the NSEN.

TIMEFRAME: 6 MONTHS (WITH POSSIBILITY OF
EXTENSION)

QUALIFICATIONS

* Understanding and experience in: Microsoft Office,
Access, Quick Books Accounting, web site development
is preferred;
* Strong leadership, interpersonal, networking, fund
raising, membership recruitment and other development
skills;
* The ability to motivate and attract volunteers and to work
with diverse communities across the province;
* Strong written and oral communication skills including
public speaking, public relations/marketing;
* An understanding of environmental issues and
organizations in Nova Scotia is preferred;
* Diploma in Administration, or a Bachelors Degree with a
background in environmental sciences, public relations,
marketing or related field.

This is a part-time home based position and therefore we
are able to accommodate rural applicants.

DUTIES

* Administration of the NSEN office
* Creation of a weekly electronic newsletter
* Database Management
* Accounting/Basic Book Keeping
* Supervision of Summer Intern
* Overseeing coordination of Fall Gathering
* Networking with a variety of environmental
organizations, government and community associations
* Web site development
* Other duties as identified or assigned

SALARY: $12.50 per hour x 20hrs per week + a monthly
stipend for home office rental (all computer/office
equipment is provided)
