Local newspapers often publish articles of interest on local history or genealogy. Unfortunately, without an index it is almost impossible to find the references. Several years ago, I compiled the following index to published genealogy articles in the Oxford Journal. According to the Union List of NS Newspapers, back issues of the O/J published before 1980 are only available on microfilm at PANS in Halifax and from the publisher in Oxford.

Please note that I have not examined these genealogies in any detail (I'm not personally researching any of these familes) so I cannot speak to the quality or completeness of the research.
