Subject: Bulk Mailer Project-R1
This week we have identified several unresolved design issues relating to
the Bulk Mailer Project. This update on the project represents a 'last
call' for design input.
At this time there are four outstanding design issues:
1) Delayed message handling...
where do we store delayed messages,
( .../bulkmail/inbox/filname )
how do we identify the delivery date,
( .../bulkmail/inbox/schedule )
(we'll assume crone will provide the prcessing for delayed messages)
will we process forwarded addresses immediately
2) Workshop Three did not appear to resolve the query mechanism. The:
grep "$USER" list/* | sort > 1
grep "$USER" sent/* | sort > 2
comm -23 1 2
method appeared to have support. Does anybody have another idea they
would like considered?
3) Delivery mechanism.... appending to the users 'inbox' (with locking)
was discussed briefly... any other ideas that should be considered?
4) File (message) creation date indicates the start date of the
mailing? Workshop minutes indicate this was not resolved...?

We would be pleased to discuss these (or any other) issues relating to
the bulk mailer.
If no alternatives are raised prior to Jan. 19 we will develop the
mailer using these strategies.
