How to Volunteer

What Role Does the Student Liason/Rep Play?

The Student Liason plays a vital role in the Branch's operations, with the student liaison/reps bringing to monthly board meetings any questions, concerns or issues that Members-On-Course (MOC) might need/like to have addressed.

The Student Liaison would also bring back to their fellow students, any Board decisions, plans or scheduled events for the upcoming year.

How Much Time is Involved?

Student Liaisons would be required to:

What are the Benefits?

As a Student Liason you will:

  • gain valuable experience
  • increase your Professional Development
  • participate in the Branch's affairs & decision making process
  • help to make CIM stronger

Is There Much Student Involvement at Board Meetings?

Students may become as involved as their comfort level permits.  However, the only real involvement is a commitment to attend meetings for the term(s) in which you volunteer to become a student liaison.

Some Student Liaisons have served only one term, while others have remained as student liaisons throughout their four years of study.  Serving as a student liaison can be very rewarding, as some students have experienced, as they have remained involved with the Board after they have graduated, and as such, have gone on to become Directors, Vice Presidents and Branch Presidents.

How Can I Become a Student Liaison?

At the beginning of each school year, members of the Board will come to classes to ask for volunteers to act as Student Liaisons.  You may volunteer your time that evening, or if after considering the idea and you decide to become involved, please contact any member of the Board of Directors.
