Busy day at the feeders, chickadees, goldfinches, jays, Hairy and downy
WPs, RB nuthatches and a solitary WB. Also crows, the inevitable squirrels and
 an unidentified sparrow.
Off this week to the land of the Anhingas and Manatees for three months.
Last winter the family were kayaking in the Indian River which is great for
kayaking and has dedicated spoil islands for kayakers to camp. Lot's of
resident dolphins and manatees and great birding. Along the edge of the
mangroves, the Kayak of my niece's boyfriend suddenly flew into the air tipping
him together with camera and cell phone into the river. He had inadvertently
slid over the tail of a manatee basking in the shallows and it reacted as
one might expect. It ambled off at a leisurely pace.
Happy and prosperous New Year to everyone.
