Observations were from 8:35 to 9:15 p.m. (Sunset 8:42), and I was joined by two young women from Halifax. When I started the swifts were all in a loose flock that was buzzing the top of the chimney repeatedly, from west to east and then circling around to repeat it, flying very low with a lot of excited chittering. Temperature was quite cool, but fairly calm, with clear sky. A single swift dropped into the chimney at 8:40, then 74 more swifts entered during about a minute at 8:47-8:48. At 8:50 5 more entered and then 2 more. Much later a single swift dropped in at 9:05. Thus there was a total of about 83 swifts tonight. Unfortunately a tourist couple from England just missed the whole thing when they decided to walk to Wolfville Harbour to check the tide level.
