I'm thinking of building bat houses and bat "communities" for want of a
better description. There is a place that bats were this summer and that
will no longer be available to them once repairs are done. I don't know how
many bats were using the space. I don't know optimal sizes for a bat house
or group of houses. I will be asking someone to volunteer to do this for us
so would like to get it right first time.........if indeed there is a right
way to move the bats at all. Do they tend to come back to the same place
each time?
I would like, however, to keep the bats in that immediate area and am
curious how many houses we can put up so as to not make them move away.
Does that make any sense? Do bats and swallows get along......one being
nocturnal mostly and the others daylight feeders mostly. Is that correct?
Does anyone know if there is a territorial cross over with that?
We have a buggy situation and moving the bats away will most definitely make
things worse, me thinks.
Do we have a bat specialist in the learned group?? Would you contact me back
channel, please? Or could someone put me in touch with someone who might be
able to help?
Best regards,
Marg Millard, White Point, Queens
