I cover the area where the raccoons are digging with the stems of wild roses. That has worked for me.

Subject: [NatureNS] Deterring a Family of Digging Raccoons

All,

Does anyone out there have a suggestion about how to deter a mother racoon & her 5 babies from digging up flower beds and potted plants in a city yard? My friend thinks they are after grubs or ants. Is this a possibility? She wants nothing toxic or anything that would harm them, just make the area less palatable. She had heard soap flakes might work.
Any ideas welcome. She is in the 'Cabbagetown' area of Toronto.
Thanks in advance.
