because there was a beetle on some of the plants which
looks like the beetle shown under Chrysolina hyperici in Google.
Shinny black about the size of a lady bug.
Anyway it doesn't appear they have made a big inroad yet!
The plant takes over though - alarm bells will likely soon ring
when the press becomes aware of it.

    It is no doubt included in the Noxious Weed 
Act. But some don't consider the Weed Act to be noxious.
 
    I understand that, in exceptional 
circumstances, H. perforatum can be toxic to livestock but I don't 
recall any local problems with it. On the other hand I know of problems when 
livestock broke into a stand of green Oats. 
 
    A beetle was introduced (Chrysolina 
hyperici ?) to control it.
