Angevine - Heard but not seen yesterday. I guess the ones seen flying last =
weekend must have been emerging somewhere very close to my cottage.

Last Thursday Lisa Eye told me she had been hearing cicadas for about a wee=
k north of Port Williams. Also she was lucky to see one on a telephone pol=
e and watch it call -- it must have just emerged from underground and then =
shed its nymphal skin before climbing up the pole. Jim in Wolfville.

This is interesting. I'm always surprised that cicadas start up as late as =
they do. None here on the North Mountain yet. But I did see a cricket (firs=
t I've seen this year) yesterday. A persistent bird sound here nowadays is =
the Black-throated Green Warbler=2C which nests in our woods. The Ovenbirds=
 have stopped calling.
