Fungi have to be very obvious before I notice them and this one certainly was: 1. From the road http://www.flickr.com/photos/92981528@N08/9502985928/ 2. Closer again http://www.flickr.com/photos/92981528@N08/9502988186/ It is 30cm top to bottom and on the trunk of an old maple planted along an abandoned farm field.
