Hi all,

Last night at the bird society meeting, Cindy Staicer encouraged participat=
ion in a new, easy-to-do survey for Rusty Blackbirds as they return this sp=
ring. You don=92t even need to see one; you just have to look.

As many of you know, Rusty Blackbirds have declined alarmingly in recent ye=
ars*, but since they breed in somewhat inaccessible habitat, it=92s hard to=
get a handle on numbers. That=92s the reason for efforts like this survey.

Details on the survey are here: http://rustyblackbird.org/outreach/migratio=
n-blitz/

Cindy=92s the designated local coordinator for Nova Scotia, but she is very=
keen to have someone coordinate in her stead, or join her as a co-coordina=
tor, so please do contact her if you are able do that or know anyone who co=
uld. Her email is cstaicer@dal.ca<mailto:cstaicer@dal.ca>

Cheers,
Andy

*The map from the Maritimes atlas shows this, with black dots showing where=
rusties were found in the first atlas, but not in the second: http://www.m=
ba-aom.ca/maps/images/RUBL_be_1.png.
